Jesus the Evangelist

October 23, 2008

I started reading a few nights back Richard D. Phillips book “Jesus the Evangelist.”  I have to say that I’m really enjoying it.  By the way, I got a few books for my birthday, so that’s why I am really excited about posting some of my favorite quotes from each of these books.  This book […]

Southern Seminary

October 22, 2008

As some of you know this next coming May my wife and I will be heading to Louisville, KY in order to attend Southern Seminary.  I’m really excited about moving up there although I am really going to miss all of my family!  Here’s a few pics of the campus when we visited.

But the greatest is love

October 20, 2008

I mentioned a couple of posts back that I was reading “The Life of God in the Soul of Man” by Henry Scougal.  It really is one of the most beautiful books on the subject of living a divine life through God.  I’ve really been praying hard these past couple of months on becoming more […]

Let’s Make an Impact!

October 15, 2008

When I was licensed a few weeks ago at my home church, my pastor gave me a book that he insisted on me reading.  It’s titled “The Life of God in the Soul of Man” by Henry Scougal.  It was originally written to encourage a friend and to stimulate his spiritual life.  Scougal explains in […]

Baby Faith

October 14, 2008

This past weekend Brittany’s mom and dad came in to visit.  While they were here, and as always, Brittany and her mom went shopping.  When they came back they had purchased some videos called Baby Faith.  They’re very similar to Baby Einstein videos (which will really help you get things done around the house as […]

Trouble with the Tulip

October 9, 2008

Earlier this evening as I was getting ready to preach at First Baptist Chipley, one of the leaders in the church jokingly told me I was to preach out of the former Southern Baptist president Frank Page’s book Trouble with the Tulip.  It is a book that calls for a closer examination of the 5 […]

A Verse Focused on the Family

October 8, 2008

While doing my devotion, I came across a verse that I believe should be the focus on anyone with a family.  Deuteronomy 6:4-9 states, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.  You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your […]

DEBT…YUCK!

October 7, 2008

Unfortunately this past weekend I was unable to see Religulous because the Dothan theatres did not show it.  While I am disappointed, it’s nice to know that many people do not even want these type of movies shown to the people within their community.  Although I said in an earlier blog that I believed all […]

Bill Mahr: Religulous

October 2, 2008

Bill Mahr’s new movie “Religulous” is to be considered a documentary concerning peoples’ view on faith.  Faith that he believes is ridiculous.  Although I would not encourage every Christian to see this movie, I really think it’s critical for ministers to listen to the questions Bill Mahr asks.  Although he is a completely arrogant and […]
