Vacation

August 27, 2008

Here’s a few pictures of our weekend at the River house.

Church Signs!

August 26, 2008

Church signs never cease to amaze me!  They are packed with wonderful tid bits of sound doctrine (sarcastically speaking of course).  Such as:  Of course one of my favorites was in Douglas, GA which I don’t have a picture of.  It says, “God couldn’t be everywhere, that’s why He created Mothers.”  Amen Brother!

Relaxation…Finally!

August 26, 2008

Last week was absolute craziness considering all of our plans changed from the moment we arrived in Jacksonville on Wednesday.  Tropical Storm Fay stalled for what seemed like ages and we were unable to go to the river house until Saturday afternoon.  Yet we did get to visit many of our family members on Thursday […]

Fun Weather

August 23, 2008

My parents were staying at a river house this week and we decided to leave early to try and avoid the storm.  We left on Wednesday and we’re still stuck in Jacksonville waiting on the weather to past!  AHHHHHHHH!  What’s even better is we can’t go back to Graceville because the intense weather is getting […]

The Emergent Church

August 20, 2008

I’ve been reading “Why We’re Not Emergent” now for the past two days and I have to say, I really enjoy the book, yet with kind of an aggravated attitude.  The first 133 pages have been great, but I’ve really learned a lot about some of the guys who are considered “emergent” and have really […]

Pretty Good Book

August 19, 2008

Al Mohler’s “Atheism Remix” is a great overview of the New Atheism that has emerged in both the 20th and 21st century.  Although I was looking for more of a defense against this atheism, Mohler does a great job discussing the key players within this debate.  Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris, and Christopher Hitchens […]

State of Emergency

August 19, 2008

While reading “Atheism Remix” last night I couldn’t help but think of the state of emergency we are in.  Mohler writes: “They (that is atheists) see atheism as the only plausible worldview for our times, and they see belief in God as downright dangerous…They know that the most important audience is the young, and they […]

I’m Back!

August 18, 2008

I know it’s been a few days, but I’ve really been busy.  This past weekend I went to Orlando to preach at my mom and step-dad’s home church.  It turned out great!  A few of the young people wanted copies of the c.d. to let other people hear it.  God really moved during the service […]

Much Prayer Needed

August 15, 2008

This weekend I have the opportunity to go down to Orlando, Fl. and preach at a church plant called Compass Community Church.  What’s also great is it is my mom and step-dad’s church.  Needless to say, I probably won’t be writing any this weekend because I’ll be spending time with them!  I’m going to be […]

Luke 5

August 13, 2008

This chapter in Luke’s Gospel has so many applications and teachings for our lives that it would be impossible to contain it all within this post.  Yet I do want to touch on a few things that really stood out to me. 1.  Being in the presence of Holiness:  It’s kind of funny when this […]
